Pokémon TCG Scarlet & Violet 151

Pokémon 151 is undoubtedly one of the most exciting sets from the Scarlet and Violet era, featuring stunning artwork, nostalgic Generation 1 Pokémon, and incredible Special Illustration Rares. With high expectations, I decided to open 36 booster packs of Pokémon 151 to see what amazing pulls I could get.

However, what started as an exciting unboxing quickly turned into a rollercoaster of emotions—featuring amazing hits, frustrating pull rates, and an unexpected invasion of Venusaur EX.

Let’s dive into this Pokémon 151 booster box opening experience and see how it went!

Pokémon 151: A Set Like No Other

Pokémon 151 is a special set that celebrates the original Generation 1 Pokémon with incredible new artwork. Some of the top pulls include:

  • Special Illustration Rare Charizard, Blastoise, and Venusaur
  • Alakazam, Pikachu, and Squirtle Illustration Rares
  • The Legendary Birds Trio (Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres)
  • High Pull Rates Compared to Other Sets

With all this excitement, I was ready to jump in and see what 36 packs of this highly anticipated set had in store!

Early Pulls: Venusaur EX Strikes First

The first few packs started off strong but also frustrating. Here’s what I pulled early on:

Venusaur EX – Not once, but twice within a few packs.
Hollow Energy Cards – Cool, but not the big hits I was hoping for.
Charmander Illustration Rare – A huge win! This is one of the most valuable cards in the set, worth around $30 raw.

While getting two Venusaur EX cards so quickly was unexpected, pulling Charmander was definitely a highlight.

The Midway Point: A Tough Opening So Far

Halfway through the packs, I was hoping for a turnaround. The left side of the booster box felt underwhelming, but I still had hope for big pulls.

  • Another Venusaur EX?! – At this point, it felt like Venusaur was trolling me.
  • Giovanni Special Illustration Rare – Finally, something incredible! This was one of the standout hits.
  • Gengar Holo – A solid card, but not the heavy hitter I was hoping for.

While the Giovanni Special Illustration Rare was a major highlight, the pull rates overall were weaker than expected.

The Right Side: Worse Than the Left?!

If I thought the left side was bad, the right side was even worse.

🚨 Unbelievable Bad Luck:

  • More Venusaur EX pulls – I was completely flooded with these.
  • Wartortle Illustration Rare – A nice card, but still not the Squirtle or Blastoise I was hoping for.
  • No Legendary Birds – I had high hopes for Moltres, Zapdos, or Articuno, but they completely dodged me.

At this point, it felt like the set was trolling me. The Venusaur EX curse was real, and the pull rates were shockingly bad compared to expectations.

Final Packs: The Redemption That Never Came

With only a few packs left, I was hoping for one final big hit to make up for the tough opening.

  • No Charizard, Blastoise, or Legendary Birds
  • A few more EX cards, but mostly duplicates
  • No massive pull to turn things around

By the last pack, I was just hoping for anything. Unfortunately, it ended with a Mr. Mime and Butterfree, sealing this as one of my toughest openings ever.

Final Thoughts: Was This the Worst Pokémon 151 Opening?

🔴 Biggest Wins:
✅ Charmander ($30 raw value)
✅ Giovanni Special Illustration Rare
✅ Wartortle Illustration Rare

🔴 Biggest Disappointments:
Too Many Venusaur EX Cards – Seriously, it was everywhere.
No Charizard, Blastoise, or Squirtle Illustration Rares
No Legendary Birds

While Pokémon 151 is still my favorite set, this opening was a reminder that luck can be unpredictable.

Would I Open Pokémon 151 Again?

Absolutely. Despite this being one of my worst pull rates ever, the artwork and nostalgia make Pokémon 151 worth opening again. Next time, I’ll be hoping for:

  • Special Illustration Rare Charizard, Blastoise, or Squirtle
  • More variety in EX pulls (please, no more Venusaur!)
  • A better overall pull rate

This wasn’t my day, but I’m not giving up on this set just yet!
